GOAL: Provide lighting where there is no electricity
Impact Nations Australia developed this system after visiting remote rural villages in Uganda and discovering that all the lighting provided within the houses was by ‘paraffin oil’.
Apart from the health issues relating to breathing there is serious problem with the possibility of fire destroying property and severe burns to families from the spilling of paraffin oil.
The cost to the villages for the purchase of ‘paraffin oil’ is substantial and will allow the villagers to use these funds on other essential items.
In 2016 a number of these units were installed in the villages and to date this has been very successful.
The Units are small, light [3.5kg] and will provide 4 hours per night [2 lights] for 16 days with a fully charged battery. There is also a ‘phone charger’, this relieves the additional cost that the villagers pay for.
These units are able to be extended to service a number of rooms and outside where all the cooking is completed.
The Solar System costs only $200 and provides adequate lighting for inside and outside of their building along with the added security during the night time. Along with our partners, we distribute these panels door to door.
